Inclinometer IMS365R
Safe inclination measurement in dynamic applications
Inertial measurement units, IMUs for short, are an essential component in the automation and autonomation of mobile machines. With the new IMS365R, SIKO GmbH, the specialist in position sensors for mobile machines, is offering an IMU that not only sets new standards for position measurement in mobile machines, but is also suitable for safety-critical applications thanks to SIL2 and PLd certification.
With an integrated Kalman filter and innovative sensor fusion algorithm, disturbance variables such as lateral acceleration, shocks and vibration are filtered out of the inclination signal. The IMS365R therefore delivers precise inclination values even in highly dynamic applications such as excavators, AGVs, and agricultural and forestry machines. In addition, the powerful sensor fusion algorithm offers a fast response time and high-quality measurements. The filter parameters can be adapted individually to the specific application to achieve the best possible results. At the same time, raw data is provided for external processing. Moreover, the IMS365R presents the inclination values as Euler angles. The so-called pitch and roll angles specify the alignment in three-dimensional space. The IMS365R therefore provides all the information necessary for machine automation.
Maximum reliability in dynamic applications
Certified to SIL2 and PLd, the IMS365R provides reliable position values even in the toughest conditions. In addition to the safety values for inclination, acceleration and rotation rates, the pitch and roll Euler angles are also captured and transmitted reliably. The basis for this is the innovative safety concept, which guarantees maximum safety and reliability, and makes the IMS365R ideal for safety-critical applications. Installed on the arm and bucket of an excavator, the IMS365R thus provides reliable position values, even with rapid rotations and shocks when loading and unloading the bulk material. In autonomous systems such as AGVs, the IMS365R can be used for dependable navigation and hazard prevention. But also in classical applications such as the inclination measurement of a lifting platform’s basket, safety can be improved significantly with the help of the IMS365R. The safety data is transmitted via the CANopen safety interface in all applications.
Precise measurements in any position
The IMS365R measures inclination, acceleration and rotation rates in all three spatial axes. All the measurement data required is therefore available at all times. The distinctive feature is that measurements can be carried out completely independently of the installation position. Measurement axes can be adjusted specifically to the circumstances of the application. This adjustment can also be carried out automatically by the sensor itself. A further innovation of the IMS365R is the integrated heating element, which can be switched on and off via the interface as required. This ensures consistently high accuracy and reliability, even with large temperature fluctuations.
Optimal combination of robust and compact design
The new housing design with two M12 connectors allows connection of multiple sensors in series and thus reduces effort and costs for wiring. Thanks to the slim design measuring less than 26 mm, it can also be installed in applications with very limited space. The IMS365R can therefore be fitted almost anywhere in a machine, offering great flexibility in machine construction. Equipped with the tried and tested PURE.MOBILE technology from SIKO, the IMS365R meets a multitude of normative and regulatory requirements for mobile machines. These include strict environmental specifications such as temperature resilience, dirt, salt spray, EMC, etc. Thanks to E1 approval of the IMS365R according to UN ECE R10 by the German Federal Motor Transport Authority, its use in mobile machines on the public roads is not a problem either.
Developed for the challenges of tomorrow
Developed for use in mobile machines such as construction machines, industrial trucks, agricultural and forestry machinery, and crane and lifting technology, the IMU delivers reliable and precise positional values even under challenging environmental conditions.
