Apply magnetic tape, then encode

Measuring the displacement of rotary movements involves specific requirements. Despite the fact that turning and swiveling are standard applications in mechanical engineering, they pose a challenge for manufacturers of measuring systems. SIKO provides magnetically coded measuring tapes in two versions: as flexible magnetic rings without a flange or bonded to a metallic ring (flange). When glued to the ring, joints can inevitably occur which cause measurement inaccuracies. To avoid this, SIKO has established its own ring production process in which the magnetic tape is first applied and then coded incrementally or absolutely. Thanks to the manufacturing quality of the magnetic rings, measurements can be carried out over 360 degrees.

Magnetic rings according to customer requirements

In addition to the portfolio of our own rings in various sizes, SIKO also provides customer-specific adaptations. For larger quantities, you also have the option of having your own rings coded by SIKO.

Criteria for selecting a magnetic ring

  • The following factors are decisive for the selection of a suitable magnetic ring for your application:
  • The required size (outer diameter)
  • The number of pulses/revolution
  • The accuracy class
  • The number of poles on the magnetic ring/magnetic tape ring
  • The application of a reference point: yes or no
  • The measurement type incremental or absolute
