Linear drives are often used as positioning drives in machine tools. They are used where a very good force-to-mass ratio and optimum synchronization are required. Precise position and speed control is of crucial importance in these applications. SIKO encoders can either run parallel to the linear axis or be integrated directly into the drive, whereby the motor magnets are read by means of pole sensors.
