New SIKO plant in Bad Krozingen in operation

SIKO GmbH, located in the Black Forest and known as a manufacturer of innovative sensors and positioning systems, recently achieved a new milestone in its more than 50-year history. Another company site has been constructed in the infrastructure-strong town of Bad Krozingen, approx. 30 kilometers away from the traditional company headquarters in Buchenbach.

From May 2020, 70 of the approximately 240 employees worldwide, now spread across 7 locations, will be working in the impressive new building in Bad Krozingen and are looking forward to the new and modern working environment. After the official ground-breaking ceremony for the new building in the "Am Krozinger Weg" industrial estate, which took place at the end of March 2019, construction took just over a year to complete. "Considering that our electronics production had already gradually moved into our new plant at the end of 2019 and quickly started production, we can be very satisfied with the overall duration of the construction, despite the construction boom in 2019 and the coronavirus crisis in 2020," Managing Director Sven Wischnewski said.

The new plant in Bad Krozingen now has 5000 m² of floor space for the production of electronic devices as well as sales and marketing. The investment volume, including machinery and building equipment, amounted to 13 million euros and is a commitment to local production in Germany and to our loyal and long-standing employees from the region.

The production infrastructure, with state-of-the-art workstations and machines for the production of electronic circuit boards for the company's own drive technology, for example, has been consistently aligned with lean production methods. Production workers and office staff alike enjoy a building and workplace design that encourages open communication and collaboration on the one hand, but also enables quiet and concentrated work on the other. Ergonomically designed workstations have long been standard at SIKO and effectively prevent back problems. The company's own staff cafeteria with lounge area in typical Black Forest wood design provides a pleasant atmosphere for the physical well-being of employees.

Several charging stations for e-cars and e-bikes have been installed in the company parking lot for visitors and employees to contribute to protecting the environment and the climate. These are supplied with green and self-generated electricity in an ecologically sustainable manner via a large-scale photovoltaic system located on the roof of the building. Geothermal probes with heat pumps and a concrete core activation system that promotes air conditioning are further elements that have been implemented to operate the new plant in an energy-efficient manner.

SIKO now manufactures at its three plants in Buchenbach, Bad Krozingen and Cham in Switzerland for global companies in the mechanical engineering and industrial sectors. SIKO's sensors, drive technology and well-known position indicators have become indispensable for efficient position settings on production machines, for example, or for the production automation of manufacturers of well-known products. SIKO also ensures increased safety for man and machine with special safety-certified sensors for safety-critical working conditions.

The new and modern plant in Bad Krozingen was a necessary and correct step for the future of SIKO GmbH. Our latest products are not only innovative, but also important for the realization of Industry 4.0 production and automation processes in industry. These are areas that are constantly gaining in importance and growing. The Bad Krozingen site gives us and our employees the opportunity to grow with the markets relevant to us and to manufacture and market innovative products that will set future market trends.
